Some iPhone photos and my top 3.
OutKast’s was better than I expected, owing to the fact some of their other festival reviews were ubiquitous. OutKast performed a plethora of their hits-“B.O.B”, “ATLiens”, “Hootie Hoo”, “Player’s Ball”, just to name some. Most memorable part of their set was during “SpottieOittieDopaliscious”, when Sleepy Brown came out in a black and purple silk suit. Once the unforgettable horns in the song came on, in a collective raise of the arms, everyone cheered.
On Saturday I Had to check into the festival pretty early to get a good spot for Diarrhea Planet’s set. I have been trying to catch Diarrhea Planet in the past 3 years. Missed them twice here in DC. Diarrhea Planet had an early set-they came out with so much energy. Kicked their set off with “Lite Dream”, which had me thrashing on the barricade. They also played “kids”, “serperations’, along with 3 new songs- one made for Tinder useres! After playing “Ghost With Boner!” they segue into OutKast’s “Hey Ya!”- Emmitt Miller crowd surfed. Evan Bird climbed the big-screen scaffolding and just nailed his solo. I still tell people Diarrhea Planet was my favorite set that entire weekend
Classixx had the Honda stage which was the second biggest stage. It was an early set with the sun disseminating its hot rays onto us, so the crowd was pretty slim. Classixx had a couple surprise guest like Sarah Chernoff come out for “A Stranger Love”, and on “All You’re Waiting For” Nancy Whang was the guest. That night I caught even more Classixx at Brooklyn Bowl(same set list). I make sure to tell people I saw Classixx twice that day.
Some of the other great sets I saw: Frank Turner, Skrillex, Bloody Beetroots, Axwell & Ingrosso, Chance The Rapper, Empire of The Sun, Washed Out, Janelle Monae, Childish Gambino, Tyler The Creater,
